Ever since little dwarfs father passed away he has been very much mesmerized into finding the family treasure, but truth be told it’s not going to be easy, after all our little dwarf is so little and his quest he is when it comes to to take on is an exceedingly long journey, he will need energy and endurance to finish it.

Get ready casual games because yet another retro arcade platform game has been released, and I might add a very fun one indeed. Endeavor is a simple pixel adventure game regarding a dwarf who must search for gems and other interesting collectables to help him along on his quest.

The game little dwarf has such simple graphics with interactional characters you may talk to along the way. Try to locate characters who need support along the way, if you take time to help you they will give you items for you to use on your quest, keep looking for those gems!

Some of the items are a little difficult to find, numerous humans tend to have trouble finding items like the parachute, lightning attack and the tiger, if you are having trouble locating gems or other collectables you may refer to the endeavor walkthrough for further and added tips and solutions.

According to the developer the game was produced in roughly a month, very impressive taking into account how nice everything ran for me the primary time, galore users did complain in regards to a bug/lag issue for the duration of the flower share of the game, it turns out it was just a save point, this bug has been fixed so everything will have to be working fine as of now.

Overall the game is a well made platform game suitable and gratifying for all ages. If you take pleasure in adventure games such as Mario and other puzzle games with a bit of a challenge/twist you will unquestionably get enjoyment from endeavor, anyways hope you find the review helpful, feel free to check it out sometime on your free time.

Story
In a distant future, the planets at the outer edges of the galaxy have become a beacon to fortune seekers and those yearning for a better life off world. But there are no warrants in deep space. Pandora, one of these distant planets, was reported to be rich in undeveloped solid homogeneous inorgani substance wealth, and so drew galore hoping to get rich quick, but in the end little was found beyond the scattered ruins of a past alien civilization. With not one thing to gain, any who could soon abandoned Pandora, leaving those who remained to deal with the lawlessness of a world gone bust, and the mystery of the long-dead alien civilization. But as chaotic as these times were, there were worse days yet to come. After assorted years the planet’s big orbit tardily brought it near to it is sun and once unknown and horrifying creatures sprang from their long hibernation to terrify the stranded colonists. The only hope of the colonists seems to be a vault came upon in the side of a mountainside, rumored to integrate alien technology and mysteries with regards to Pandora. Will this invention be the colonist’s salvation or their end? Discover their fate in Borderlands.

Gameplay
As in a established RPG, Borderlands is built around the continual leveling of characters as they delve into quests. These quests include both story-driven adventures and side quests that offer players rewards such as items exclusive to quest completion and/or forward motion of the story. Players may look forward to action set in both single player and multiplayer modes–including co-op play–as well as vehicular combat, in a literal sense thousands of dissimilar types of weapons that modify each time you play and randomly generated maps and map features.

Playable Characters
Borderlands features assorted playable characters, each with it is own distinguishable backstory, abilities and skills. Skills may be leveled up, permitting for betterment of things like health, accuracy with weapons and capacity for items. Borderlands has so far proved to be an immensely enjoyable game delivering in many ways where Gearbox promised. I feel it will be equally appealing to fans of shooters and dungeon crawlers alike.

5Shoot and Loot

So I got my copy of Borderlands last night and played up to level 11. Here are my impressions one day in.

-The game is beautiful. I personally love the cartoony style of the graphics. Extremely detailed and even the barren wasteland is nice to look at. The characters while not customizable are all highly detailed as well and look great. You can change the name and colors, that’s about it.

-Controls are excellent. Feels like COD4 with a few changes. Any FPS player can pick it up and play very easily. The one vehicle I’ve seen so far controls exactly like a warthog from halo.

-Guns, guns, guns. Only a few hours in and I’ve seen so many kinds of guns I can’t count them. One of the best parts of the game is that you’ll never know what will drop out of the next enemy. Could be that acid rocket shotgun you’ve been waiting for! The pure crazines of the weapons is awesome.

-Story. What story? Your looking for a vault full of alien technology. That’s it so far. If your looking for deep story, this is not the game for you. Try Fallout 3. On that note, this game is nothing like Fallout. Other than the fact that both games are set in a wasteland like place in the future there is no comparison. It’s more like COD4/Halo meets Diablo/Baldurs Gate.

-Co-op. Tried the co-op last night and it was the best online experiance I’ve ever had. I sent my friend an invite and he joined my game with his levleed up character. No lobby, no re-loading, he just appeared in my game, we played for a few hours and when he left I was back to single player. All seamless. Amazing. Can’t wait to try it with four players.

-In the couple of hours I played it I was glued to the XBOX360. If I didn’t have to work today I would have played all night. Now that’s a sign of a good game. Well spent 60.00. I’m sure I’ll more than get my monies worth on this one for a long time to come. With four characters that you’ll not likely max out on the first play through this game has some legs to stand on. Enjoy.

3Almost great, picky gamers beware

I wish I could give this game three and a half stars but I can’t. I also wish that I could climb aboard the “this game is amazing” train but I can’t do that either. To be clear: this is a fun game and if you enjoy copious loot and you’re FPS/RPG hybrid genre fan I’d recommend this game, even at retail price. On the other hand if you find yourself leaning more one way or the other in terms of either a solid FPS or a real PRG then there are safer bets coming down the line for your $60. It’s a good game but it just didn’t live up to the hype more for decisions that the design team seemed to have made than for any failing in execution.

With that said everything that Gearbox set out to do it looks like they accomplished. The game looks great, the mechanics are solid, the audio is good and the art direction is absolutely fantastic. I’m also happy to say that with the exception of some very questionable decisions regarding pop up windows in split-screen play there are no bugs or obvious quality control oversights. This game is highly polished, a treasure to look at and smooth to play. Technically speaking this is quality software. From here on out if it seems I’m ragging on this game a little hard it’s because there are already a ton of 5 star reviews on here so it’s easy to find emphasis on the better aspects of the game if one desires.

The problem with Borderlands is that it doesn’t really do any single thing really well. It’s not a solid combat FPS and the RPG elements are so insignificant they’re essentially just a mildly customizable scaling system. The vehicles also appear more an afterthought than anything. There aren’t enough options to really customize your character and leveling decisions are more tactical considerations than broad gameplay choices. There’s just no role play in the role play. There are also exactly zero interesting or functionally interactive NPCs, the towns are simply a series of empty buildings and vending machines where you conduct business transactions. The few NPCs that do exist are immobile “come here and get you next quest” cut-outs. Borderlands is a dead world alright, just not in a good way. This is very disappointing and retro in an age of complex NPC AI and living, breathing worlds. There appears to have been a design decision along that way that “more is better”. I’d generally agree but here that ends up being a “tons of guns” gimmick that only leads to you simply hauling “tons of guns” back to vending machines to sell, only looking at their price tag. The other thing this leads to is a long series of uninspired missions that are largely “go here, collect item/kill boss, return”. With little or no depth to the missions they quickly start to feel less like a series of epic quests and more like a list of errands.

The FPS combat element is only adequate. Again, the feel is retro. The level deign is very dated with transition points between maps which are largely a series of canyons or other linear pathways interrupted by bizarrely unpleasant loading screens. Often at the end of the canyon is a load point which takes you into a building. Guess where that widget you have to find is? Yep, at the back the building in the big room with the boss. At least you won’t get lost, there’s generally only one way in or out. In the day of open, persistent outside worlds this is pretty unacceptable for a top shelf game(paging Bethesda). The enemies along the way have sufficient by undeniably rudimentary AI. The number of animations is limited and the group tactics non-existent so instead of fighting groups of enemies that work together and utilize cover and flank you instead you just fight multiple independent enemies simultaneously that strafe back and forth and advance or retreat depending on their health. It’s rather uninspired and the game uses a leveling system for enemies that radically alters the game’s formula for dealing and being dealt damage. This is used to prevent you from “playing ahead” by having enemies that are almost impossible to defeat without leveling. Having all your FPS skills be thrown out the window because you can only do 10 damage per shot instead of 50 and you take 50 instead of 10 because the game wants you to be a lvl 20 and you’re “only” a 17 is frustrating. Die hard FPS traditionalists will also be very unhappy with the HALO like shields and the checkpoint save system. Oh, and your little robot helpers are a blatant rip off of Grrr from Invader Zim.

Still, with all my complaints this is a solid game. It’s fun and can draw you in. On top of that there is more than enough unique gaming hours in it to justify a purchase instead of a rental. Bottom line: FPS fans would be better served waiting for Modern Warfare 2 and RPG and RPG hybrid fans should wait for Dragon Age but it’s still a safe bet if you have time and money to burn.

Pros:
*Very polished, had no bugs. Quality coding.
*Beautiful art direction and smooth, engaging graphics.
*Simple, fun controls.
*Very large world, plenty of unique game play hours for your buck.
*Achieves “just one more quest” syndrome at times.
*Easy learning curve.

Subjective qualities and food for thought:
*Very light on RPG elements, this isn’t Deus Ex or Fallout 3.
*Not a run and gun shoot ‘em blood and guts ride.
*Not a lot of variety in the loot just guns/shields/mods.
*Tons of guns. More likely to be sold to a vending machine than shot at anyone though.
*Check point save system.
*Shields.

Cons:
*Irritating inventory.
*Simple AI.
*No interesting NPCs, no interactive world.
*Little true character customization.
*Vehicles end up as mere transportation.
*Dated level design.
*Unreasonable level scaling system that takes away from the FPS element.
*Boring story.
*Slow to start.

Like most products, Magic Jack has it’s good points and it’s not-so-good points. It will be up to you to determine what is most essential to you in internet phoning and to choose the product that ought to work best in your situation.

Magic Jack Pros

  • Low cost to undertake out. For $39.95 plus shipping and handling, you receive the USB device and the license to use it for unlimited local and long distance calling for one year. Each further and added year is $19.95. There are likewise multi-year packages to buy at a discount.
  • International calls may be free if you are calling someone who also has the device. For example, if you have a family fellow member that lives in another country, you may buy a Magic Jack and mail it to them. Then you may call them for free and they may call anyplace in the US and Canada free.
  • Includes a good deal of features such as voice mail, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, 411 and 911.
  • Save on your cell phone minutes by using it to make calls from home.
  • Uses any ordinary landline telephone, including cordless phones. Headsets and your computer microphone and speakers may likewise be used.
  • Magic Jack Cons

  • Your computer has to be turned on to use Magic Jack.
  • Service may be intermittent. New company with growing pains, I don’t commend relying on it for your only phone.

  • 911 is through a dissimilar system than the 911 you call from a regular telephone. When setting up your Magic Jack it will ask you the physical emplacement of your phone in case of calling 911. Until this service is a lot more stable, I would not rely on their 911 in an emergency. Another reason for keeping your landline phone.
  • If your internet service does not work for the duration of a power outage, you will be without this phone service also. Unless you have a cell phone that will work, this is another reason not to cancel your landline phone service. Make sure you keep a phone that doesn’t use electricity on hand for emergencies.
  • As with most or all voip services, you must have a high speed internet connection to use this service. These services include broadband, DSL, WiFi, FIOS, cable internet or WiMax. It is not commended for use with satellite internet.

    If you are mesmerized in having a service that allows you to make free long distance calls, give Magic Jack a try. If dumping your current landline phone service is what you need, investigate the other VOIP services that are available and that have a longer track record of performance.

    Construction-equipment loving boys will adore this humourous twist on the classic nursery rhyme. Someone has done a lot of work building a house. Someone has been operating a cement mixer, driving a bulldozer, and using a forklift to build walls, frame windows, and nail down a roof. Someone has built a big, strong home for Jack. But is this the house that Jack built? One tired puppy dog disagrees in this story when it comes to getting what you work for. 

    From School Library JournalPreSchool-Grade 2—A fantasti twist on an age-old rhyme. This book actually focuses on the building of the house, and the a great deal of hands (or paws) that it takes to make it. You see, while Jack the homeowner (a human) takes credit for it is construction, it is genuinely Max, a hardworking frequent contractor dog, and a number of other skilled canine laborers, who do all the work. So at the end of the story, it’s easy to understand why Max gets a little trouble at Jack resting on his laurels at the finished site. What he does to Jack results in a laugh-out-loud moment and a neat flip of the ongoing power struggle amongst builder and owner. Wohnoutka’s full-page acrylic paintings are big scale, but are likewise full of little details for readers to enjoy. The vehicles that drive up to the web site delivering materials and excavating are rugged and tough, likeable to the construction enthusiasts, but the soaring house is the centerpiece of the story, and Max’s care in building it is obvious.     5Great Illustrations and Words with Rhythm

    With humor and a gift for writing descriptive vocabulary, Karen Magnuson Beil has written a delightful book for young children. The words have a wonderful beat and is fun to read aloud. This is the real story of how Jack’s house was built and all the different trucks, equipment and materials that were used. Mike Wohnoutka’s pictures are colorful and full of detail, right down to the flames on the pick-up truck and tools on Max’s tool belt. This book is the best I’ve seen lately for young children and I can’t WAIT to read it to my first graders this fall. The girls will love it as much as the boys because it is so much fun. I know my class will laugh out loud as I read the ending too!

    5Great for kids who love trucks

    My two-year old son loves this book. He’s one of those boys who’s crazy about transportation and the great thing about this book is it not only identifies what each truck is called, but it shows it doing a specific job to help build a house.

    The illustrations are cute, bright and attractive; the words are simple and repetitive enough that my son has memorized it already.

    I see that other reviewers think this book sends a bad moral message but honestly, I didn’t even think that until I came here. This is how I saw the events of the book happening:

    1. At the beginning it has a picture of a house and the text says “This is the house that Jack said he built.”
    2. Through pictures we see Jack owns a dog named Max. Jack has a house built but the dog does all the work while Jack lazes about in a hammock and doesn’t lift a finger.
    3. When it’s all done, the dog gets a little miffed and has Jack (in his hammock) hauled away in a pick-up truck.
    4. Finally, the last page says that it is a house that *Max* built.

    Nowhere does it indicate any “stealing” happens. The dog built the house, not the owner Jack. It never says Jack doesn’t live there, or that the dog now owns the house.

    I think when adults impose their moral interpretation on books meant for children, things can go awry. We see malice when all children are concentrating on are the cars and the cute dogs.

    4Who is Jack?

    Truly intriguing illustrations in Jack’s House capture the attention of the reader even before the story does. The colors are vibrant and clear with beautiful detail on every page. From scraping the land before the cellar is dug to nailing the shingles on the roof, this book is interesting to my grandchildren. A bulldozer scrapes dirt, walls are bricked, trucks bring supplies and the house gets built. There’s a play on words that is totally missed by my young children, but it’s humorous to the adult reader. Entertaining as well as informative, this is a book worth sharing.

    How much may take place to one boy in the space of a few years of his life? A lot, if you are the stuff that legends are made of. The legend is Jeffrey Lionel Magee, likewise known as Maniac Magee, in the book by the same name, by Jerry Spinelli.

    He was born in an ordinary house, to general parents. But when a trolley crashed into the river, killing them, Jeffrey’s life begun to change. He was sent to live with his Uncle Dan and Aunt Dot, who lived together but shared not one thing and never spoke to each other.

    After eight years of this, one day Jeffrey started screaming for the duration of a school play. Then he left the auditorium, running, and he never stopped.

    Thus begun his life as a homeless child. He found himself in the black division of town, with a girl who hauled her entire library in a suitcase, back and forth to school. After he pleaded with her, Amanda in the end lent him one book to read.

    After that, the stories with regards to him began. He was the only boy…ever…ever!…to not be scared to enter Finsterwald’s back yard. If you lost your baseball or model airplane because it flew over the fence into his back yard, you didn’t dare go in there to retrieve it. Nobody would deliver papers there. Nobody would shovel that sidewalk, not even for a zillion dollars.

    But Jeffrey Magee wasn’t afraid. He rescued Arnold when a lot of high school kids were attempting to throw him, screaming, over the fence into Finsterwald’s back yard. These things, plus his athletic feats, are what started persons calling him “Maniac,” and the name stuck.

    But he didn’t have a home. He jumped the fence at night to sleep with buffalos at the zoo. He snuck into Mrs. Pickwell’s house for dinner each now and then, and not anyone thought anything was wrong, because they had so a lot of kids to commence with, and ordinarily a couple of friends over as well, that everyone figured he was just someone else’s friend.

    More than anything, though, this is a story of Maniac and the friends he makes, the fights he fights, and the challenges he faces. So much happens to him, there’s more stuff in here than an encyclopedia.

    The chapters are short, and the way the persons and events in his life weave together as the book goes on is interesting. Through it all, Maniac keeps running, running, running, looking for a place and people to go home to.

    This has been a general book with kids since it was published in 1990. Part of it is just that there is so much going on, and share of it is that Maniac and the things he does are so unusual. Kids may relate to his not sentiment like he belongs anywhere, yet he keeps trying.

    It’s a hard book to categorize. It’s not genuinely regarding sports, though there is numerous baseball and running in it. It touches on racism, but that’s not the biggest portion of the story, either. You’ll have to read Maniac Magee, by Jerry Spinelli, yourself, to see what you think.

    Look For Madden 2005 at Amazon

    The most notorious sports video game of the year is available. Many critics and even consecrated Madden fans have been perturbed with Madden lately because they have been the same old Madden. Some would even go as far as to say that there has not been numerous progressed features after Madden 2005 (which introduced the hit stick). Others believe that Electronic Arts is not endeavoring to make the best NFL game because there is no competition. Since EA purchased the exclusive NFL rights, they have been making the same old Madden video games. Madden 2008 is an exception to that rule because it is brilliant.

    After an intermediate three iterations of Madden that have disappointed fans, Madden 2008 will unquestionably please fans. The visuals are awful on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but they are frightening on the Nintendo Wii. Players will observe is that the more or less vexing Tony Bruno is no longer doing his absurd radio show, and the gratuitous newspaper info is nowhere to be seen. The gameplay is more liquid than former iterations of Madden. Gamers will realize that the players do not arbitrarily run around the field like Bobby Brown addicted to crack cocaine anymore. I would spend so much time away from the main storyline that I forgot all with regards to it. Secret caves and dungeons are places that are scattered all around the world of Oblivion.

    The combat in Oblivion feels more like a introductory person shooter than a unfeigned role playing game. You may attack with respective magic spells, swords, arrows, and so much more.     In 2007, I purchased Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition) after finally jumping into this generations gaming systems. Close to 400 hours later, I decided that game was the best value for my money in terms of content, quality, and overall fun that I would ever play.
